Tashi Mannox
Dharma Artist
A chance meeting
A visit to Hay-on-Wye led to an invitation for coffee and a visit to the home of Tashi Mannox.
Situated deep in the Herefordshire countryside lies the home and studio of Dharma Artist Tashi Mannox. After completing his degree, in fine art, Tashi decided to join the Kagyu order of Buddhist monks and spent time at the Samye Ling Buddhist monastery in Scotland, giving him the time to study and practice Dharma. During his time here at the monastery, he found himself captivated by the enchantment of Tibetan Art and calligraphy.
He spent time at the monastery studying with the monks, copying ancient manuscripts, and practising calligraphy. Slowly he began to master the various forms of Tibetan script, and his confidence and unique style began to grow.
After spending eighteen years as a Buddhist monk, Tashi decided to leave the monastery and is now a lay practitioner. He continues to work as an artist and communicates the noble truths (The four noble truths of Buddhism) through his calligraphy and iconography. Tashi also works on commissions, designs Tattoos and runs calligraphy courses around World.
